What Find Me A Car is

Find Me A Car UK (“FMAC”, “we”) is an online advertising platform. Private sellers and motor traders advertise vehicles here, and buyers browse those adverts and contact sellers directly.

We are an advertising platform and nothing more. We do not own, hold, inspect, test, store, transport or sell any of the vehicles advertised. We are not a party to any sale, and no contract for a vehicle is ever formed with us.

What we check, and what we do not

We want to be precise about this, because it matters more than anything else on this page.

  • We verify that the email address on an account can receive email. That is all account verification currently means.
  • We do not inspect vehicles. Nobody from FMAC has seen any vehicle advertised here.
  • We do not verify mileage, service history, ownership, outstanding finance, accident history, write-off status, or whether the seller is entitled to sell the vehicle.
  • We do not verify that photographs show the vehicle being advertised.
  • Where a specification comes from a vehicle-data provider rather than the seller, we label it as such on the advert. Everything not so labelled was supplied by the seller.
  • We do not check sellers' identities beyond their email address.

If you are buying

Treat every advert as a starting point, not a description you can rely on. Always view a vehicle in person, satisfy yourself about its condition and history, and carry out your own checks before paying anything.

Never send money — a deposit, a transfer, a “holding fee”, or anything else — to someone you have not met, for a vehicle you have not seen. FMAC will never ask you to pay a seller through us, and we do not hold funds for anybody.

Any dispute about a vehicle is between you and the seller.

If you are selling

You are responsible for your advert. By publishing one you confirm that:

  • You own the vehicle, or you are authorised to sell it.
  • Everything you state is accurate and not misleading, including mileage, condition, history and specification.
  • You have disclosed anything a reasonable buyer would want to know — including known faults, damage, an insurance write-off category, imported status, or outstanding finance.
  • Your photographs are of the actual vehicle you are advertising.
  • You will keep the advert accurate, and mark it sold or withdraw it once it is no longer available.

Your legal obligations as a seller

Advertising a vehicle carries legal duties independent of these terms. If you sell in the course of a business you have obligations under consumer protection law, including the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 and the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Describing a vehicle misleadingly may be a criminal offence.

If you are a motor trader you must make that clear. Advertising as a private seller when you are trading is unlawful, and we will remove adverts where we believe it is happening.

These terms do not replace or reduce those duties, and nothing here should be read as legal advice about them.

Your account

You must be 18 or over and give accurate details. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens through your account.

Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to it.

Removing adverts and accounts

We may remove or suspend an advert, or suspend an account, where we reasonably believe it breaches these terms or our advertising rules, is fraudulent or misleading, or exposes buyers to harm.

Where it is practical and appropriate we will tell you why. Where an advert appears fraudulent we may act first and explain afterwards.

Suspending an advert does not delete it. We retain listings, their history and their photographs so that we can investigate reports and cooperate with any legitimate request.

Charges

During this beta, advertising on FMAC is free. There are no subscription or listing fees, and we do not take a commission on any sale.

If we introduce charges we will tell you before they apply to you, and you will be able to decline them.

Availability

FMAC is a new service in a limited beta. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and features may change.

We take reasonable care with your adverts and photographs and keep backups, but you should keep your own copies of anything you would be sorry to lose.

Our responsibility to you

We provide the platform with reasonable care and skill.

We are not responsible for the accuracy of adverts, the conduct of buyers or sellers, the condition or legal status of any vehicle, or any transaction you enter into with another user.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Subject to that, we are not liable for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable, or for business losses such as lost profit, where you are using FMAC in the course of a business.

[FOR LEGAL REVIEW: the liability position above needs a solicitor's attention before public launch, particularly the distinction between consumer and business users, and any monetary cap.]

Changes to these terms

These are version 2026-08-25. We record which version you accepted and when.

If we make a material change we will tell you, and where appropriate ask you to accept the new version.

Law, and how to reach us

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.

[FOR LEGAL REVIEW: replace with a monitored business address, and add the trading entity's registered name and number once confirmed.]
