What you may advertise
Road vehicles you own or are authorised to sell: cars, vans, pickups, minibuses and motorhomes.
One advert per vehicle. If you are advertising several vehicles, each needs its own advert.
What is not allowed
We remove adverts that:
- Describe a vehicle misleadingly, including its mileage, condition, history or specification.
- Use photographs that are not of the actual vehicle, or that are taken from another advert.
- Conceal a known fault, an insurance write-off category, outstanding finance, or that the vehicle is an import.
- Advertise a vehicle the seller does not own or is not authorised to sell.
- Present a trade sale as a private one.
- Advertise a price that is not the price the seller will accept, including bait pricing.
- Contain contact details or links intended to move a buyer off FMAC to avoid our rules.
- Contain offensive, discriminatory or unlawful content.
- Advertise anything that is not a vehicle.
Fraud
Adverts designed to defraud buyers are removed immediately and the account suspended. Where appropriate we report them.
Common patterns we act on include: a vehicle priced far below its market value, a seller who will not allow a viewing, a request for a deposit before viewing, and a seller who asks to move the conversation off FMAC straight away.
Buyers: if an advert matches that description, report it and do not send money.
How we enforce this
Anyone can report an advert from its page, without an account.
We review reports and may remove or suspend the advert, or the account. We keep a record of reports and of what we did, including reports we dismissed — a pattern across several reports is often more informative than any one of them.
